Four Roses Small Batch Select is the first permanent addition to the range made with Brent Elliott as the Four Roses master distiller, bringing together six of the brand's ten recipes. If you're a Four Roses enthusiast and curious about which specific recipes, it's the OBSV, OESV, OBSK, OESK, OBSF, and OESF recipes. If you're a little unfamiliar with Four Roses and you're looking at all those letters with a quizzical expression upon your face, know that they mean Four Roses created this one using two of its mash bills as well as a combination of yeast strains. Weighing in at 52% ABV, this expression shows off a fruit-forward side of Four Roses' bourbon, alongside classic vanilla richness and warming woody notes.

Hakushu 18 Years Old
Melon, kiwi. Honey, geranium. More and more citrus. Anise. Hay. 1min later, light prunes. Still a light nosing, no peat. People probably mistreat hay as peat. Lemon after a sip. Overall medium to light strength.
Pretty rich to start. Yellow fruits + citrus sourness and kiwi. Sweetness dropped after 5s with more peel and tea taste. The whisky tasted a bit thin, and not much change on the palate.
Some pear with peel sweetness, longan, then honey + green tea bitter, finally vanilla sweetness and cinnamon

‘Lot 40’ is Canadian rye whisky which has proved exceptionally popular over the years. So much so, in fact, that when it was discontinued in the 2000s, public outcry forced a rethink. The whisky is produced using a single copper-pot still.

Bimber Single Virgin Cask #93 / LMDW
The founders of London's Bimber distillery, Dariusz and Ewelina, moved from Poland to the UK in 2003, opening their distillery in the Park Royal area of west London twelve years later. Plazewski inherited his passion for whisky from his grandfather, who also distilled his own spirits. The company’s first casks were laid down on the 26th May 2016, and three years later they released their first single malt in September 2019. This became the first whisky to be distilled and bottled in London for over a century. The distillery carries a “farm-to-bottle” approach by sourcing 100% of its barley from a single producer and using traditional floor maltings and slow fermentation techniques. Distillation takes place via a 1,000-litre wash still and a 600-litre spirit still that were both crafted by Hoga of Spain.
